Anointing in celestial, is it a decision or isit given ?

I find it very interesting, how we as humans in most cases, don’t have much anticipation, or foresight for significant life milestones. We usually only start to think of these milestones when their staring us in our faces. None of us really start to think about college until our friends are going, driving until our closest friend passes their test, marriage until one by one the friends we grew up with, start to get engaged and very quickly we start to realise, we’re not kids anymore, or even when that one friend sets pace and purchases their first house.

Anointing in celestial church is another one of those significant milestones that at one point in life we decide to take or for some not to.

I was asked by a brother of mine about anointing. I’m in a season where people around me are getting annointed, even those that by age I senior. So he questioned me as to why I didn’t go for anointing, he joked and he’s words were “surely you’re iya ijo!” Translated to “Mother of the church”.

My answer was a simple one, as I don’t like to say too much, “it’s not my time”. He’s response that followed was interesting, he said “your work in the church thus far is worthy of anointing and that you never want to get to a place where those that should be below you senior you in rank”. He said a nice prayer for me and we parted, such a lovely guy.

His statement made me think about something that’s been on my mind for a while. “How much does our timing and stage in life, have to do with Gods time? “.

His statement makes sense because when you consider the normal development of a child there’s a time he must walk, a time he must talk, a time to grow and there’s a time in which he switches from milk to solids. Children that are slow to meet these key development stages are usually considered slow developers and in extreme cases, disabled.

But then I consider the nature of God, he doesn’t seem to be bound by our timing:

Sarah, Abraham’s wife, regardless of time and the fact that she surpassed normal child baring age, at the end bore a child at the point in which her womb was considered dead.

“And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.”

Romans 4:19

Hannah the wife of Elkanah, her wait for a child was lengthy to the point of grief. But it was not until a covenant child was mentioned that God remembered her and she conceived.

“Then she made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.””

I Samuel 1:11

Joseph was hated by his brothers so much that they sold him to slavery. A dream of his brothers bowing down to him as a child would later manifest itself when he was put as second in command to pharaoh. Everything was so timely from him being thrown into prison which eventually lead to him saving a whole nation from dying from famine.

“Now Joseph was governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph’s brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.” Genesis 42:6

When you look at these stories their life didn’t take the normal pattern as determined by society. In their youth they were called, barren, criminals, slaves but at hindsight we can now see it was all for the fulfilment of purpose.

“But when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the *purpose of God according to election* might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.””

Notice how God made his decision of who he loves and hates not according to position, character or works but purely for the “purpose of God according to election “. It says that when they were in the womb, before either of them was considered good or evil God chose to love one and hate the other. He’s decision was according to purpose, it didn’t really matter that Esau was senior to Jacob or by anyone’s works, all that mattered was what was said which was that the older shall serve the younger. It was Gods choosing in this matter not mans.

God is less concerned about our time, more than he is about the fulfilment of purpose in our life’s. So my answer to the question:

“How much does our timing and stage in life, have to do with Gods time? “.

Nothing.

Anointing is something that is given, not taken due to season, age, character or accomplishment.

Notice how when someone is anointed they must kneel before he who is issuing the anointing, because there is a transfer of power from the one who leads to the one that follows, and before they were anointed for any rank they were chosen according to purpose.

Saul was chosen by God in which he sent Samuel to find.

“Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, “Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.””

I Samuel 9:15-16

The story of David was very similar in respect of being anointed and chosen by God according to purpose and not decision of man. If you read the full story you would notice that Sauls preference was David’s brothers due to their appearance.

“And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.”

I Samuel 16:11-13.

Patience is one of the hardest things to exercise in the areas of your deepest desires. Anointing might not matter much to you, for some it might be marriage, others getting a job. Wherever in your life you are eager for a breakthrough, find courage in that God knows exactly what he’s doing. One of the things that has kept me never rushing to the alter, is always asking myself “how long do you want your marriage to last?” Never rush the process because anything of value takes time and don’t loose hope because after every wait, as touching your purpose there is a reward.

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:”
